Circus Records, UK
Sweet shop!!! Although a couple of Londoners can be credited with inventing the original dubstep sound, one man out of Northamptonshire can be considered responsible for twisting the sound to such an extent, it became a worldwide movement and, at least for the time being, the biggest and most in-demand sound in the world. Whether you call it, filth, tear-out, or just dirty dubstep, his sound spawned a gazillion copy-cats and dominated raves, festivals and airwaves for years. His label Circus, which he co-owns with fellow pioneer Flux Pavilion, is still one the reigning forces in bass music, and Doctor P is still dropping bombs nonstop. Tetris, Sweet Shop, Big Boss, Love Goes Down remix or his remix of 12th Planet’s ‘Reasons’, no rave was complete without at least a few of these. Here to show us all how it’s properly done, the original don, at Rampage, bow down to Doctor P!
